Doptelet Overview
Doptelet is a prescription medication indicated for the treatment of low blood platelet count, also known as thrombocytopenia, in adult patients with chronic liver disease who are scheduled to undergo a procedure.
Doptelet belongs to a group of drugs called thrombopoietin receptor agonists, which increase platelet production.
This medication comes in tablet form and is taken once daily with food.
Common side effects of Doptelet include fever, nausea and headache.

Uses of Doptelet
Doptelet is a prescription medication used to treat low blood platelet count, also known as thrombocytopenia, in adult patients with long-lasting (chronic) liver disease who are scheduled to have a medical or dental procedure.
Doptelet is not used to make platelet counts normal in adults with chronic liver disease.
It is not known if Doptelet is safe and effective in children.

- Enzalutamide
- Fluconazole
- Mifepristone

Doptelet Precautions
Serious side effects have been reported with Doptelet including the following:
- Blood clots. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have some or all of the following symptoms of blood clots.
- Swelling, pain or tenderness in your leg
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
- Fast heartbeat
- Stomach pain or tenderness
Do not take Doptelet if you:
- are allergic to Doptelet or to any of its ingredients
Doptelet Food Interactions
Medications can interact with certain foods. In some cases, this may be harmful and your doctor may advise you to avoid certain foods. In the case of Doptelet, there are no specific foods that you must exclude from your diet when receiving this medication.
Inform MD
Before taking Doptelet, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions. Especially tell your doctor if you:
- are allergic to Doptelet or to any of its ingredients
- have ever had a blood clot
- are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Doptelet may harm your unborn baby.
- are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed during your treatment with Doptelet and for at least 2 weeks after the last dose.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Doptelet and Pregnancy
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
In animal studies, pregnant animals were given this medication and had some babies born with problems. No well-controlled studies have been done in humans. Doptelet may harm your unborn baby. Therefore, this medication may be used if the potential benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks to the unborn child.
Doptelet and Lactation
Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.
It is not known if Doptelet crosses into human milk. Because many medications can cross into human milk and because of the possibility for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants with use of this medication, a choice should be made whether to stop nursing or stop the use of this medication. Your doctor and you will decide if the benefits outweigh the risk of using Doptelet.
Women should stop breastfeeding during treatment and for two weeks after the last dose of Doptelet in order to minimize exposure to a breastfed child.
Doptelet Usage
Take Doptelet exactly as prescribed.
- Your healthcare provider will tell you how much Doptelet to take and when to start taking it.
- Take your prescribed dose of Doptelet 1 time per day for five days in a row as instructed by your healthcare provider.
- Take Doptelet with food.
- Your healthcare provider will check your platelet count before treatment with Doptelet and on the day of your scheduled procedure.
- If you forget to take a dose of Doptelet, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take two doses at one time to make up for a missed dose. Take your next dose at your usual time the next day and complete all five days of dosing.
Doptelet Dosage
Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully.
The dose your doctor recommends may be based on the following:
- your platelet count prior to a scheduled procedure
The recommended dose range of Doptelet for the treatment of thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic liver disease before a procedure ranges from 40 mg to 60 mg for 5 days, depending on platelet count.
Doptelet Overdose
If you take too much Doptelet, call your healthcare provider or local Poison Control Center, or seek emergency medical attention right away.
Other Requirements
- Store Doptelet at room temperature between 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C).
- Store Doptelet tablets in the original package.
- Keep this and all medicines out of the reach of children.
