Lidex (generic: fluocinonide) is a prescription medication used to relieve the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Lidex belongs to a group of drugs called topical corticosteroids which work by suppressing the over-active immune system.

Lidex comes in ointment, gel, solution, and cream forms. It usually is applied to the affected area(s) 2 to 4 times a day.

Common side effects include skin burning, itching, and dryness.

*Brand name Lidex products are no longer available. Generic versions are made available by several manufacturers.
